Will I be able to call or text using the free eSIM?

Yes! Though it may be a different kind of calling and texting that you’re used to. Traditional calling and SMS text are not available when using a GigSky free eSIM because our plans are data-only. This means the cellular connection that you enjoy with your home carrier is not available through our plans. But, there is good news! With our free eSIM, you can still make calls and send text messages through data-based apps. For calling, think of apps like WhatsApp, Messenger, Signal, Instagram and Telegram. This includes voice calling and video calling! For texting, the same applies to the aforementioned apps – all of which are data-based. For those who are texting iPhone to iPhone or Android to Android using Rich Communication Services (RCS) texts, you’ll also be able to text through your phone’s usual messaging app. Although Apple is adopting RCS messaging for non-Apple products, it still may not work between Apple and Android devices. Will I keep the same eSIM profile after upgrading from the free version?

Yes! A major benefit to being a GigSky customer is you don’t need to create a new GigSky profile when you upgrade from the free version of the eSIM. You will keep the same eSIM profile and simply update it with a paid GigSky eSIM. Though your free eSIM has expired, it’s important you do not delete that eSIM (unless directed by a member of our Customer Support Team). Instead, all of our eSIMs will show in the “My Plans” tab of the GigSky app. You can find your current and past plans there. Note that if you visit the same location, you will simply be “topping up” the expired eSIM for that location. This is why you never delete eSIMs from your profile.
