What is Travel Essentials?
Travel Essentials is a lite connectivity plan designed to keep you covered for the essentials while you're abroad. Think messaging your family, navigating with Google Maps, or booking a ride. It's not built for streaming or heavy data use.
What's included:
- Messaging. WhatsApp, iMessage, Facebook Messenger, Instagram DMs, Telegram (text and emoji only, no media, photos, or voice messages)
- Email. Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail (text only, no attachments)
- Maps & Navigation. Google Maps, Apple Maps
- Ridesharing. Uber, Lyft, Bolt, DiDi Rider
- Translation. iTranslate
- GigSky app
Not included: Streaming (audio or video), video calls, voice calls, social media feeds/reels, large file transfers, VPN services, iCloud Private Relay, or the App Store/Play Store.
Can I combine this with other GigSky discounts or promotions?
GigSky discounts and promotions apply to standard plan purchases, not to the complimentary Travel Essentials plan. You can still take advantage of any available promotions when buying a separate plan.
Can I transfer the plan to another phone or person?
No, the plan is not transferable.
Can I use this plan on more than one device?
No. Once you activate the plan on a device, it's tied to that device only.
Can GigSky change or end this offer?
Yes, GigSky reserves the right to modify or discontinue the offer at any time.
Is Travel Essentials available in every country GigSky covers?

Travel Essentials isn't working. How do I fix it?
Try the following steps:
- Make sure you're only using supported apps and features (see the list above).
- Turn off any VPN you may have enabled.
- Disable iCloud Private Relay if it's on.
- Check that your GigSky eSIM is turned on and set as the active eSIM for cellular data.
If none of that works, reach out to GigSky Support and we'll help you sort it out.
The offer isn't showing up in my app. What should I do?
Start by completing the eligibility check in the GigSky app. If it shows as ineligible, check whether your card category is one of the supported ones. If it is, contact GigSky Support, though you may also be directed to reach out to your card issuer to resolve it.If you haven't completed the eligibility check yet, that's likely the reason it's not appearing.
Can I add more data to my complimentary plan?
No, but you can redeem other benefits available on your eligible Visa card, or purchase a separate GigSky plan anytime.
Which app features work?
- WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, iMessage, Telegram. You can send and receive text messages, emoji, and reactions.
- Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail. You can send and receive plain text emails, but attachments are not supported.
- Google Maps, Apple Maps. You can search for destinations, get directions, and run navigation.
- Uber, Lyft, Bolt, DiDi Rider. You can search, book, and pay for rides.
- iTranslate. You can translate text and voice.
I'm going on a cruise. Does my benefit cover connectivity at sea?
The complimentary plan doesn't extend to cruise connectivity, but your 20% or 30% discount does apply to GigSky cruise plans. That's worth knowing, because GigSky is the only eSIM that covers both sea days (290+ cruise ships) and port days, so your discount goes further than it would with most providers.
I have more than one Visa card. Can I use both?
Absolutely. Each eligible card carries its own benefit. If you have a Visa Infinite and a standard Visa card, for example, you can redeem the benefits from both.
How does the discount work?
Once you're verified, your 20% or 30% discount is automatically applied at checkout whenever you purchase additional data plans. You'll see it reflected in the price, no codes, no extra steps. And it never expires as long you remain an eligible cardholder: the discount applies to every future plan purchase, no matter how many plans you buy.
How do I redeem my benefit?
It takes a few minutes and you only have to do the eligibility check once:
- Download the GigSky app on your phone.
- Tap the Visa banner inside the app.
- Enter your Visa card number to confirm your eligibility.
- Once confirmed, all your available benefits will appear. Redeem them whenever you're ready before your trip.
I'm traveling to the World Cup. Is there something special for me?
Yes! From April 1 through July 31, 2026, the USA destination benefit becomes a special World Cup benefit covering all of North America, meaning the United States, Canada, and Mexico. You don't need to be attending the matches to use it. Any eligible Visa cardholder traveling to any of those three countries during that window can redeem this benefit.
Which destinations are included?
The benefit launches with four destinations: the United Kingdom, France, the UAE, and the United States. Visa will continue adding new destinations over time, and your benefit will update automatically to include them, no action needed on your end.
