Disney Cruise WiFi Pricing Explained: Choose What Fits Your Trip

July 17, 2025

Staying connected while cruising is more important than ever, and Disney Cruises offer a variety of WiFi options to make that possible.

Whether you're uploading family vacation moments to social media or planning out the next day’s shore excursions, Disney cruise WiFi plans are designed to accommodate different needs and budgets.

But how does Disney's WiFi stack up against alternatives like GigSky’s Cruise + Land eSIM? Let's break it down.

WiFi Pricing Options on Disney Cruises

Many cruisers choose to utilize Disney cruise WiFi packages, as they’re convenient and easy to utilize. But what options do cruisers have when it comes to WiFi packages on a Disney cruise? Disney is unclear on their website as to what their WiFi packages are, let alone cost. The following information was sourced from bloggers who have cruised with Disney in the past.

1. Pay-as-You-Go

  • Cost: Charged per MB of data
  • Best for: Light or occasional internet use, ideal for checking emails or brief browsing
  • Drawback: Costs can add up quickly if you're not monitoring usage.

For each of the following, there are three options cruisers can choose from: Stay Connected, Basic Surf and Premium Surf.

The Stay Connected plan includes access to certain social media sites. It doesn’t include Wi-Fi calling, internet browsing, email access or video and music streaming.

The Basic Surf plan includes the above, plus access to Wi-Fi calling, internet browsing and email access. It doesn’t include video and music streaming.

The Premium Surf plan includes all of the above, plus access to video and music streaming.

You cannot connect more than one device at once. But you can disconnect one device and then connect another. This option isn’t available on some other cruise lines. The basic plan only specifies “certain” social media apps are available – not which ones. There are no mentions of discounts for booking cruise WiFi in advance.

2. Daily Packages

  • Cost: Each of the above plans comes in a 24-hour format, offering a flat rate for unlimited data. They cost $18, $28 and $42 respectively.
  • Best for: Guests needing consistent internet for a full day, such as travelers working remotely or streaming content.
  • Drawback: Costs can be significant for longer voyages.

3. Voyage Packages

  • Cost: $16 per day per device (Stay Connected) and $24 per day per device (Basic Surf).
  • Best for: Travelers who need steady access throughout their trip and want to avoid daily data purchases.
  • Drawback: There are limits to what apps you can utilize on these plans – make sure you check the details before purchasing!

4. Premium Packages

  • Cost: $34 per day per device (Premium Surf)
  • Best for: Guests who need high bandwidth, like professionals on video calls or families streaming Netflix.
  • Drawback: Premium prices may not appeal to cost-conscious travelers.

Disney WiFi Cost Analysis

While Disney offers flexibility in its WiFi plans, prices can vary across its fleet, which includes Disney Wish, Disney Fantasy, Disney Dream, Disney Magic, Disney Treasure, Disney Destiny, and Disney Adventure. To get a sense of the above costs, we calculated the cost of one device for a 7-day cruise. This means needing seven days of connectivity. The following are the estimated costs per plan (including if you chose to buy the 24-hour pass each day…for some reason):

  • Stay Connected: $112
  • Stay Connected 24-Hour: $126
  • Basic Surf: $168
  • Basic Surf 24-Hour: $196
  • Premium Surf: $238
  • Premium Surf 24-Hour: $294

While these prices are competitive within the cruise industry, is it the most affordable option available?

GigSky vs. Disney Cruise WiFi Pricing

For travelers looking for alternatives to cruise ship WiFi, GigSky’s Cruise + Land eSIM is a robust choice. Here's how it compares:

GigSky Cruise + Land eSIM

  • Cost: Plans start at $19.99
  • Coverage: Both onboard cruise ships and in port destinations
  • Advantages:
    • Seamless connectivity between ship and shore
    • Global coverage in popular cruise regions
    • Cost-effective for frequent cruisers or data-savvy users
  • No Hidden Fees:
    • Never worry about data roaming charges; you only pay for what you need.

Disney Cruise WiFi

  • Cost: Starts at $16 per day
  • Coverage: Only works onboard ships
  • Advantages:
    • Integrated into the Disney Cruise experience
    • Frequently optimized for social media browsing
  • Drawback:
    • Not usable off the ship; travelers will need an additional solution once docked.
    • Limited use for non-Premium plans.
    • Extremely expensive, especially when adding additional devices and opting for the premium plan.
    • Expect data throttling based on the type of package you purchase.

If you're looking for flexibility and affordability, GigSky might be the better choice, particularly if you plan to stay connected both onboard and onshore.

Tips for Saving on Cruise WiFi

  1. Pre-Purchase Discounts

Sometimes discounts are offered for WiFi if purchased before boarding the ship. While Disney doesn’t currently advertise such discounts, it’s worth asking during booking.

  1. Leverage Free WiFi Onshore

Many ports of call feature free WiFi in cafes, restaurants, or public spaces. Save your onboard data for when you’re at sea.

  1. Alternate Solutions like GigSky

If uninterrupted connectivity is non-negotiable, consider a service like the GigSky app that allows you to use your plan both at sea and onshore. This minimizes reliance on costly cruise ship WiFi.

  1. Choose the Right Plan for Your Needs

Analyze your data usage beforehand. For example, if you primarily scroll social media, you can save by opting for Disney’s Stay Connected Plan rather than the Premium Surf Plan.

  1. Monitor Usage Closely

Whether you go with Disney’s plans or another provider, track your usage to avoid unnecessary overages.

6. Turn Off Auto-Updates

Prevent apps or devices from eating up bandwidth and data allowance by disabling background updates and syncing.

7. Download Content in Advance
Save entertainment, maps, and other essentials ahead of your trip to reduce in-cruise data needs.

Which Connectivity Option is Right for You?

When deciding between Disney Cruise WiFi and alternate providers like GigSky, the right choice will depend on your unique needs:

  • Choose Disney WiFi: If you prefer a seamless, onboard experience tailored to casual browsing and basic connectivity.
  • Choose GigSky: If you need reliable internet before, during, and after your cruise, with coverage extending to port stops.

No matter what you choose, one thing is for sure: modern connectivity options ensure you can stay connected whether you're sipping cocktails on a Disney ship or exploring bustling port cities.
